In Economy you can take one cabin bag of up to 7kg and 56 x 45 x 25 cm. For travel from 2 March 2026, Thai uses a piece system on flights between the UK and Thailand: Saver and Standard fares include one 23kg checked bag, Flexi and Full Flexi include two, and Royal Silk Business Class includes two 32kg bags. Each bag can measure up to 158 cm in total (length + width + height).
They are Thai's four Economy fares. Saver and Standard include one 23kg checked bag, while Flexi and Full Flexi include two. They also earn different Royal Orchid Plus miles: 25% of the miles you fly on Saver, 75% on Standard, 100% on Flexi and 110% on Full Flexi. Change and refund rules vary by fare too, so we confirm them for your ticket before you pay.
Not for a short holiday. Since 15 September 2026, British citizens can visit Thailand for tourism without a visa for up to 30 days. Thai flies about 9 times a day to Phuket and Chiang Mai and 3 times a day to Krabi, and each flight takes about 1.5 hours. Yes. Thai was one of the five airlines that founded Star Alliance in 1997. Its frequent flyer programme is Royal Orchid Plus, and you can also earn and use miles on other Star Alliance airlines.
Yes, Thai's London flights are running as normal. Severe flooding in Bangkok in late September 2026 led Thai to cancel some flights, but Suvarnabhumi Airport stayed open and Thai returned to its full schedule on 3 October. As of 19 October 2026, the FCDO does not advise against travel to Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi or Chiang Mai, but it does advise against all but essential travel to the far south and within 20km of the Cambodian border. We check the latest status before you book and again before you fly.
